Aloha! Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. As an Associate Pastor under Pastor Bill Stonebraker at Calvary Chapel Honolulu, the Lord led Travis and Dawn to first pray for Japan and then finally step out in faith and follow the Lord's leading from the sparkling beaches and familiar faces of Hawaii to the "Land of the Rising Sun". Just a simple burden for the lost revealed the lifelong preparation the sovereign and omnipotent Lord had provided. In the winter of 2001, along with Rich and Candice Rose, members and friends from Calvary Chapel Honolulu, Travis, Dawn, and their (at that time) 3 month old daughter Erika moved to Tokorozawa. After a year of serving and learning at Calvary Chapel West Tokyo with Pastor Katsumi Santo, in February 2003, Calvary Chapel Tokorozawa was begun with the simple principles to "love as Christ loves," being "fed by the Word and led by the Holy Spirit." Now Pastor Travis, Dawn, Erika, Evan (born 01/18/04 in Japan) are enjoying life in Japan, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Having pretty much no interest in going on the mission field, we were basically pretty comfortable with our life in Hawaii with me working at a supermarket and Candice working at a drugstore. Then the Lord led us on a short term trip with some other folks from Calvary Chapel Honolulu and our perspective changed quite a bit. After that trip and a couple of years of praying, we moved to Japan in 2001 with Travis and Dawn. We've been blessed with being a part of Calvary Chapel West Tokyo and then getting to take part in the church plant here in Tokorozawa. I kind of feel like we are “along for the ride" as we get to watch and participate as the Lord does His work.

The story of the prodigal son is one that speaks to us all at some point in our lives. I am no exception. I believed upon Jesus Christ but gave myself to pleasures of this world. But God is gracious and called me back to Himself and as I walked back down the road towards the Father, I had the same feeling as the prodigal’s son, just let me serve You Lord. And in that there is so much joy. God has given me such a wonderful love for the nation of Japan and nothing would make me happier than to see the move of the Holy Spirit in this nation. I am simply here to be a part of what God is going to do in this nation, that I might pass out the bread as the disciples did upon the feeding of the 5 thousand and see the miracles of God up-close-and-personal and marvel at His Grace.
